Diet, sample month, and rainfall predict strain sharing among non-coresiding baboons. A Dietary similarity predicts strain sharing. Dietary similarity was calculated using the Jaccard similarity index based on the dietary compositions of each pair of baboons that lived in different social groups at similar times. Insets display dietary data from selected baboon pairs on either x-axis extreme. B Time of year predicts strain sharing. Minimum distance between the numeric representations of the months (1 = Jan, 2 = Feb, etc.), regardless of the year in which they were sampled, for pairs of baboons that lived in different social groups at similar times.
